We have a proud sporting history in Dundonald Primary and continue to provide an active sporting afterschool activity programme.
The school football squad train weekly and participate in numerous tournaments throughout the year. Any P5-P7 child can represent the football team in 5, 7, 11 a-side games or tournaments. Additional we have a Girls' 7-a-side squad which takes part in the Ards Borough tournaments competing against other local schools. Glacticos, a link programme with Christ Church Presbyterian Church, is an additional P4/P5 football club which runs throughout the year.
Cross Country is another extremely popular club in Dundonald Primary. Currently any P6 or P7 child can come along to the club and enjoy setting and bettering their personal targets. From this club a team of 8 boys and 8 girls have competed in regional and national finals.
Both boys and girls are given the opportunity to play hockey in P5. They learn the basic skills and participate in fun games. In P6 and P7 children are selected to join the hockey squad. In April 2009 the team qualified for the Northern Ireland Finals.
The children in our school have many opportunities to try other sports in after school clubs. We offer netball, aerobics, kwick cricket, rugby, badminton and tennis.
In addition to these activities, children from P7 experience outdoor pursuits during a residential visit to Killyleagh Outdoor Education Centre. Activities included are canoeing, orienteering, adventure walking, dinghy sailing, studying habitat and recording data using ICT.
